Drake Drops 'Trophies' As A 'New Year's Eve Anthem': Listen Now

Hit-Boy-produced ""Trophies"" early Monday morning (December 30).
The Toronto rapper first teased the song in a trailer for his Nothing Was the Same album, and later performed it when Would You Like A Tour? hit Brooklyn's Barclays Center in late October. "Trophies" was cut from Nothing Was the Same, so Drake figured that he'd gift fans with the celebratory anthem, which finds him spitting about chasing success for the right reasons over a booming beat. It was co-produced by Hagler and 40.

Drake got the party started early Saturday morning with the tweet, "New Years Eve Anthems on deck," accompanied by a link to his OVO Soundcloud page. He debuted a remix of Soulja Boy's "We Made It," notching another guest verse after destroying Migos' "Versace (remix)." The tracks begins with a sample of Kenny Powers (from HBO's "Eastbound and Down").
Although Nothing Was the Same was released in late September, Drake hinted less than month later that new music would be coming. "I'm not a guy that does 40 songs for a project and picks 13 of them," he said. "If I'm gonna go as far as to track over a beat, I usually have the utmost faith in it that it'll end up somewhere."
"I don't really dispose of too many songs. I have stuff that didn't make this album definitely, but I don't have 20 or 30 of them — I have four or five records that just didn't make it because I was trying to keep it concise and whatever I end up doing with those, I'll do with them."
